Simon Needham —
Photography
Simon Needham is a British photographer and creative director based in Los Angeles. His photographic practice spans wildlife, portraiture, and conservation, with particular attention to movement, proximity, and the physical presence of his subjects.
Before turning his focus toward photography, Needham co-founded ATTIK, the British creative agency he developed over twenty-five years into an international network. As Group Creative Director, he worked across design, advertising, and commercial film before moving increasingly toward directing and image-making.
His wildlife practice developed through sustained work with conservation organizations and sanctuaries, particularly in Southern Africa. Rather than approaching animals as spectacle, Needham often photographs at close range, allowing posture, gaze, and gesture to carry the image. His collaborations have included GG Conservation, Care for Wild, One Heart Worldwide, Development Media International, California Wildlife Center, and other humanitarian and conservation organizations.
Photography functions within this work as both image and document: a means of observing individual subjects while drawing attention to the environments and conservation efforts surrounding them.
